Samsung Austin Semiconductor proudly announced its new Asian Plus employee resource group (ERG) at a celebration that welcomed its founding and new members, in addition to leaders from both inside and outside the company.

The mission of the Asian Plus ERG is to build an inclusive network that inspires growth, fosters collaboration and celebrates the richness of Asian heritage and culture.

“We’ve decided on the name of Asian Plus because we’re committed to amplifying the voices of the diverse Asian community, including Asian immigrants, Asian Americans like myself, Pacific Islanders, native Hawaiians and beyond,” said Diane Flores, inaugural chair of the Asian Plus ERG. “Regardless of your origin or your background, this is your space. We deeply value the contributions of both members and allies.”

All three executive sponsors, senior vice president of Fab Engineering Byung Goo “BG” Jeon, Pump Chiller & Scrubber (PCS) director Pratik Joshi and Quality & Reliability director Dung Dau, are excited for the creation of the ERG and look forward to supporting it.

"Innovation is very important to me and central to our business in Fab Engineering. Employee-led groups help our business drive innovation. They accomplish this in large part due to the diversity of backgrounds ERGs bring together," Jeon said.

President and CEO of the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce, Mark Duval, spoke at the event, commending the Asian Plus ERG on their involvement in the local community. “Samsung is such an incredible organization here as a leader in the community, as a leading employer and a leading technology company. And so bringing together all the benefits that you are in the various ERGs that you have, to me, it’s magic and we’re glad to be a part of it,” said Duval.

“ERGs create spaces for camaraderie, connection, learning from one another and advancing business priorities.” said Bonyoung Koo, executive vice president of Samsung Austin Semiconductor.

“These committed groups are guiding and maximizing employee engagement both in and outside of Samsung Austin Semiconductor, focusing on community outreach, professional development, networking, mentoring, recruitment and retention,” echoed David Gentry, senior director of the People team.

As the sixth ERG at Samsung Austin Semiconductor, the Asian Plus ERG joins the Black Employee Network, Hispanic ERG, Military Appreciation Group, Pride ERG and Women in Technology at Samsung to provide even more opportunity for employees to nurture a sense of belonging within the company.
