Samsung Semiconductor has worked hard
to make an impact on our employees,
clients, and local communities.
We have put a lot of work into becoming
a sustainable company that contributes
to the development of humanity.
In this sense, we have joined the global trend of carbon
neutrality.
We have been running our own
campaign called 'Eco-Office' as well, which is our first step
towards reducing the usage of plastics and increasing the amount
of plastic waste that is recycled. We aim to encourage employees
to separate their office disposals.
In order to take part in this campaign,
11,385 employees
of Samsung Semiconductor have pledged to recycle their used
resources. We have made a promise to ourselves
to recycle and separate waste. This
shows our will to make changes by
putting our pledges into action.
Samsung Semiconductor has been running
a campaign called, 'Eco-Office' since
this year.
It aims to reduce carbon emissions starting from within our
office where we spend most of our days.
We have made the office environment efficient for disposing of
waste in 6 to 10 categories.
We also provide our employees
with reusable bags and individual dishes as well.
This is
to encourage them to reduce the usage of single use items.
We also hold live quiz shows and publish online cartoons and
educational videos to help
our employees obtain correct
information about recycling and
separating waste.
One of our environment managers made
a song called <Love Recycling
Song>
to promote the campaign, which made our employees become more
enthusiastic about separating used disposals.
Once our employees separate used
plastic bottles,
they are moved to
flake/chip manufacturers.
The plastic bottles are shredded into
pieces and
get cleaned. They transform
into plastic flakes
afterward.
The plastic flakes are melted at high temperatures. After they are cooled down, they are made into smaller chips. These chips are used as materials for threads.
These threads are used for making fabrics. We use these fabrics to make eco-friendly blanket covers.
11,385 employees of Samsung Semiconductor have pledged to take
part in this campaign.
Their efforts to separate used
plastic bottles have led to the making of 1,000 blankets with
recycled fabrics, which were donated to our neighbors in need.
In order to recycle the plastic bottles, we emptied, rinsed,
detached labels and separated them. The clean bottles were
used for making cozy blankets for our neighbors with the
cooperation of a plastic recycling company and a blanket
manufacturer.
These blankets will help those in need survive the cold
winter.
On December 13th, the blankets were delivered to 10 welfare organizations in Yongin, Pyeongtaek, Osan, Anseong, Asan, and Hwaseong areas near Samsung’s semiconductor business sites. We hope that the warm hearts of Samsung Semiconductor executives and employees are also conveyed along with the warm winter blankets.
