Stellar Forest is a standard workplace for people with disabilities, and is a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics at which people with developmental disabilities can uncover their potential and build a foundation for self-reliance

We are creating sustainable jobs for people with developmental disabilities

Developmental disabilities include autism and intellectual disabilities.

Despite the fact that people with developmental disabilities may be responsible and meticulousness in terms of their work, the unfortunate reality is that they may have limited job opportunities due to social perceptions.

To tackle this issue, Samsung Electronics established Stellar Forest, a subsidiary standard workplace for people with developmental disabilities, to create sustainable jobs for these people. Stellar Forest is a standard workplace for people with disabilities established with 100% investment by Samsung Electronics. Beginning with the confectionery manufacturing business, our plan is to provide stable jobs for people with developmental disabilities.

Cookies and other baked goods made by the staff at Stellar Forest will be available for Samsung Electronics employees. Along with the confectionary business, Stellar Forest, which opened its doors in March 2023, plans to continue creating sustainable jobs for people with developmental disabilities by uncovering jobs and industries in which they can succeed in the future.

Stellar Forest helps nurture greater possibilities based on diversity and potential

The name, “Stellar Forest”, stands for hope that people with disabilities can build a foundation for self-sufficiency and cultivate “Hope” in a “Forest of Stars” a Korean term that metaphorically refers to a sky full of stars.
Stellar Forest aims for a society that upholds and respects the diversity of each and every one of its members, instead of a homogenous environment. Stellar Forest is not simply a place where people with developmental disabilities work, but also a place that provides sustainable jobs in which people with developmental disabilities and non-disabled people can come together to combine their potential and create synergy.

Stellar Forest' employees commit to respecting one another and attaining happiness at work

Stellar Forest’ employees have made a “promise.” Essentially, this promise is a guideline for fostering an ideal work environment for employees with developmental disabilities.

This promise is written concisely and clearly. For example, it requires employees to say “I have a question” if they want to ask a question, and call their colleagues by their first name rather than their surname. It takes into account how people with developmental disabilities can have difficulties with abstract concepts such as “everything in moderation” but carry out specific instructions with precision.

Through this “promise to be together” that may seem small but is in fact vital, we are creating a workplace where people with developmental disabilities of Stellar Forest and non-disabled people can understand and respect one another.
